The aim of the Staffordshire Moorlands African Drumming Project is to bring the rhythms of West Africa to the streets of Leek and beyond... to provide an opportunity for people in this region to experience music from a different culture, both as participants and as listeners.

The Project runs two-hour evening workshops on a weekly basis under the teaching guidance of David Woolley from the Joliba Drum School based in Stoke-on-Trent.

The organisers have been extremely gratified at the success of the project so far and plan to focus more on live performances, benefiting not only those who play, many of whom will never have performed in public before, but also the audiences who have thoroughly enjoyed the many performances we have given to date.

If you're interested in joining the project, or would like details of forthcoming performances, contact Stephen Plumb 01298 83822 stephen.plumb@virgin.net, Judy Gregg 01538 300418 judygregg2000@yahoo.com, or Chris James 01538 386803 cjames@dismantle.org
