HOW WILL HALVING BE ACCOMPLISHED?

How will single births be enforced worldwide? Such a policy is going to be virtually impossible to put in place. But this realistic appraisal of the difficulties should not put us off trying. We believe it's a fight that can be won.

There are any number of contrary forces out there to stand against the logic of HALVING - religious, nationalistic, commercial, libertarian, political and, the most powerful adversary to population Dismantlement of all, human nature. People will fight the one child prescription as being an infringement of their personal rights. The multinationals will fight it for reducing their markets and their pool of cheap labour. Awareness and foresight will be conspicuous by their absence, as they always have been in the mass consciousness.

But reduce our numbers we must. This is what China, with 1.2 BILLION inhabitants, is doing about her population crisis.

In a perfect world, there'd be no opposition to Population Dismantlement and the concept of one child families. We're all in the same boat, and the calmer seas that will come through having fewer people on board will benefit EVERYONE.

Some developed countries have already reached zero population growth - Russia and Italy have actually dipped below basic replacement.

When the birth rates drop, countries develop a kind of inverse pyramid, the broad base at the top representing the older people and the narrower part, those of child-bearing age and younger. So in the North, more people will be taken off the top than will be added to the bottom, with the obvious result that the populations of the developed countries will fall faster than the populations of the underdeveloped countries where the ratio of young to old is about equal. But even this is fair in its inequity because of the North's greater call on the Earth's resources.

Failure on our part to act will increase human suffering to dimensions most of us cannot comprehend.

It's not just the children of the South who are starving. The children of the North are being starved, too, of a spiritual commodity that will only come to us through the various areas of Dismantlement we've discussed, including population. Most importantly, population.

WHY IS SUCH A DRASTIC REDUCTION IN NUMBERS NECESSARY?

Anything more than a billion people in the world is unsustainable by natural means. Our huge numbers today depend on unnatural means such as intensive farming and heavy use of fertilisers to make the crops grow and chemicals to keep them alive.

To get back below a billion bodies by the end of our second lap two hundred and fifty years from now will, with a 'halving' regime in force, be easy to accomplish - in theory anyway.

Part of our purpose here on the web is to simplify an easy job that's been made difficult by the mass of opposing positions on the subject of birth control. There are people looking through the eyes of the World Bank, some through the eyes of religion, some looking from the left, some from the right. We've got people looking at it from a human rights stance, from a civil liberties stance, from a nationalistic stance...

Being representative of nothing but the well-being of the planet, this site is able to cut through all these differences. Population Dismantlement neither favours nor disfavours countries, groups, religions, political parties, commercial lobbies or economic systems... it's the only guarantee that what has to be done will be done.
